en/Born to a poor family, Andi Dimi, 4 often spent his days in the forest nearby, helping his parents and looking for some fruit to eat. It was the only variation of menu he had to make because sometimes he got bored eating his staple food such as cassavas or sago and the family had to get to the forest to get it.

When Andi was 2, his mother left him forever. She had hemorrhage after giving birth to his youngest sibling. Because his father had no money to bring his mother to a doctor, instead, he took her to a shaman and the shaman gave her just traditional herbal medicine. Instead of getting better, her hemorrhage was getting worse and finally she died.

As their custom and tradition, when a wife dies, they must make a kind of ritual of cutting finger. Because of his father’s old age, so they Andi cut Andi’s index finger. They did this because Andi is the only boy who is supposed to take his father’s place.

His father knows that he is too old to take care of him, and so he entrusted Andi to live with his poor uncle. And because of poverty, his uncle entrusted YTP Children Rescue Home Coordinator’s wife to bring Andi to Pondok Kasih Orphanage.

Now in Pondok Kasih Center, Andi doesn’t have to look for food in order to survive anymore. Here he gets nutritious meal everyday and education. And every 3 months, he has free medical check up. All of these are made possible with the care of those who love children like Andi.
